Michael is an active member of the National Athletic Trainers Association, Trainers of Massachusetts, the National Strength and Conditioning Association, the Professional Skaters Association and the US Figure Skating Association. He is a former Executive Board member on the NSCA Special Interest Group for Figure Skating. Michael has lectured on injury and injury prevention topics: Strength Training for the Baseball Athlete, Injury Prevention through Sports Specific Conditioning, Core Training for Figure Skating, Conditioning the Figure Skating Hip, and Concussion Management.
He has donated his time to the Bay State Games, Boston Marathon, U.S. Figure Skating competitions, including the USFS Championships (2001, 2004 – 2015), USFS Junior Nationals (2005) and ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships (2013). He has also conducted high performance testing on behalf of US Figure Skating at their Sports Medicine Workshops in Lake Placid and Colorado Springs. He participated in an invitation only round table discussion at the behest of US Figure Skating to discuss off-ice training program development for the developing figure skating athlete. Michael has also been an anchor for the US Figure Skating STARS testing program, from 2011 – present, at several locations around the country.
